#MMBBR Worst. Book. Ever.: The Awesome Adventures of Max Power by Wayne Basta @WayneBasta

Max Power, secret agent, Nobel Laureate, private eye, is a big damn hero. But when Femfa Tall, a rising starlet with a big problem, comes to him for help, he finds himself up against his arch-nemesis the evil Doctor Guy... again. No worries---ninjas, time travel, rebels with their own flags, robots, evil clones, Double Entendre, and pirates can't make a dent in Max Power's awesomeness---or can they?

Wayne Basta

As a child, Wayne Basta was introduced to science fiction at a young age by his father. Mainstream hits like Star Trek and Star Wars were followed by old Tom Swift novels and then classics like Asimov and Clarke. Growing up on Florida's space coast only served to fuel his imagination and love of space, science and adventure.

At the age of 9, his family got their first home computer, an old Macintosh Plus, and he immediately used it to start writing science fiction adventure stories. He continued writing as a hobby all the way through college at the University of Florida, where he initially pursued a career in the US Navy until an injury changed his plans. Wayne then spent several years teaching high school and working in the education non-profit sector before coming back to his old dream of writing.

Wayne currently lives in Houston with his wife, son, and dog. He remains a fan of geek culture, board games, video games, fantasy, science fiction and all around silliness.

Q.  What inspires your writing?
A. Everything. Ideas can pop up from any little thing you see. The expression on someone's face could trigger an idea for how a character might react or seeing something ridiculous happen in some movie might trigger and idea of how to do something better.

Q.  What is your favorite thing about being a writer?
A. Getting to create new worlds and see what happens.

Q.  What is the toughest part of being a writer?
A. Finding the time to get to it really. I am also a stay at home dad for a three year old so most of my day consists of running around fighting bad guys instead of writing about that.

Q.  If you could not be writer, what would you do/be?
A. I was a teacher in a former life so might go back to that some day.

Q.  What would the story of your life be entitled?
A. Geek who Geeks with Geeks

Q.  What is your favorite book of all time?
A. That's impossible to answer. My favorite book is almost always the last book I finished and enjoyed.

Q.  Which character from ANY book are you most like?
A. Butters from the Dresden Files.

Q.  What character from all of your book are you most like?
A. It's not really an answer but there is a bit of me in all of my characters.

Q.  Which book would you love to take a weekend vacation inside of?
A. Fantastical science fiction worlds or fantasy worlds full of magic are immediately tempting. But in every book, some really horrible things happen. This is what makes them exciting to read. But it's always what makes all of them terrible vacation spots.

Q.  What is your favorite season?
A. Fall, without a doubt. I grew up in Florida and live in Texas. When that first cool breeze finally comes signaling a break in the oppressive heat it's like angels singing.

Q.  What inspired your book cover(s)?  Or what is your favorite book cover and why?
A. Each of the covers for my Aristeia series were inspired by the books main character and the opportunity to bring those characters to life. For "Worst. Book. Ever." it originally was the worst cover ever, just a stick figure holding a sign. But that failed to capture the sheer ridiculousness of the book.

Q.  Are you working on something new?
A. Always.

Q.  Anything you want to say to followers of this blog or those that are just stopping by?
A.  Thanks for stopping by. Tip your waitress
