The Frog Who Was Blue by [Kermani, Faiz]

THE FROG WHO WAS BLUE is a project for a charity that Kermani works with called the World Medical Fund (worldmedicalfund.org). They provide medical services for vulnerable children in Malawi, Africa.

ABOUT THE BOOK:  The story is about Biriwita, a blue frog, who wants to go to Croak College, the most famous school for frogs in Malawi, but the other students reject him as he's different.

Some more details can be found here on the publisher's site:

This book is about how we are sometimes to quick to judge others and that even though people can be unkind you should still always do what is right.  A story about accepting others, even when they are different, and to watch out for others, even after they are mean.  Doing the right thing will always feel better than doing the wrong thing.  This book is a great book to open up conversations with kids to see how they would deal with similar situations.  The main problem is that the blue frog needed to do something very heroic to gain the respect of he green frogs and the green frogs were relentlessly mean to the blue frog.  Life is not easy or fair, at times, so this is something we, as teachers or family, need to discuss with our children.  As well as doing what is right because it is the right thing to do.  A great book for opening up conversation.
